Frequency of tendency changes
In this category, the tension elements of a football match are to be examined in a different way, namely that of the changes in tendency. How often does a match turn over? How often does the spectator (including the neutral, who is so desperately needed) go on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, how often does the fan plummet from sky-high to deathly sad? In any case, there is one claim: football is too boring. One could quite easily provide more excitement by applying the rules (correctly) and deciding on penalties in the case of a foul in the penalty area and interpreting for the attacker in case of offside in case of doubt, instead of, as is common in practice, having no doubts and ALWAYS interpreting against the attacker, even if it very often even turns out to be wrong. This would already be enough to ensure 1 to 2 more goals per game on average and also more tendency changes.
The 1:0 is NOT included as a change of tendency, because without this goal it would not even start to be exciting. The international comparison is included to see how the German leagues compare to other leagues.

As you can see, both German leagues were quite far ahead in the rankings last season, with the 1st league even in 1st place, by some margin. This means that the league was pretty high in the games, in that a lead did not mean victory by any means. Whether this indicates tactical deficiencies, the international comparison must show. In any case, the fan in general is pleased when there is action and excitement, even if for every goal scored there is also a sufferer.
Change of tendency from last weekend
Every week a comparison is made here: was it exciting in Germany, were there many turned games or did a lead also inevitably mean victory, so that one was rather bored to yawn because simply nothing happened? An international comparison shows how things went and where the most action was.

The last statistics were compiled between the match days of Tuesday and Wednesday last week, hence the crooked number of matches. Overall, there were an above-average number of changes of tendency, but none in England in 10 games! Spain and Italy led the way at the weekend.

Both German leagues continue to be at the top, but everything remains close together, only Italy drops off a little towards the back, which of course is not a bad sign for the quality of football, rather boredom would be to be feared by the spectators, however, our own observation has shown that the Italians do not find anything wrong with it, on the contrary, that they even appreciate it very much and do not dislike a 0:0 for example – the mother of all results without a change of tendency – at all. They simply understand the game of football, in a completely different way than is the case here in Germany, whereby the buck is summarily passed to the reporters.
